This large hummingbird is also known as the Blue-throated Sabrewing. It defends its territory fearlessly against other hummingbirds. It is found only in northeastern Venezuela and the highlands of Tobago and is an endangered species. The Tobago population was almost wiped out by hurricane Flora in 1963 but has recovered and appears on environmental posters with the nickname "Campy." (Tobago)
