We enjoyed watching the renowned snake dance that is normally done only during a certain time of the year, perhaps for the hope of a good yam crop. The white bands probably indicate the common Banded Sea Snake (Laticauda colubrina) which has black and white bands. This snake must drink fresh water so comes onto land and is seen frequently on Indo-Pacific islands.
