Chief Johnstar invited us to share the village celebration of Vanuatu Independence Day - July 30th. It has been an independent country since 1980. After visiting Loh Island and going to the ordination celebration at Ureparapara Island we returned to Gaua for these festivities. Here the food is laid out on palm fronds and banana leaves for the feast.
