This large tyrant flycatcher is found from southern Texas to Uruguay. Practically omnivorous, it catches insects in flight, will pounce on rodents, eats some fruit and even dives for fish and tadpoles. Alert and aggressive, this bird will drive hawks away with persistent attacks while alerting all prey in the area with strident calls. (Trinidad)
