This species ranges through Central America and the northern part of South America. They eat mostly insects (ants, beetles, grasshoppers, spiders, centipedes, etc.) and occasionally frogs and lizards. They hitch slowly up tree trunks and sometimes forage on the ground, particularly over ant swarms. (Tobago)
