This is the home of an old "Sea Gypsy" couple of the Maken tribe. They live aboard and also use it for fishing, which is their main source of food. This particular boat came over to "Arctracer" one day to get kerosene for a lamp. We had difficulty understanding their request because they spoke very little English, but when we finally understood we were happy to give them a couple of quarts. Younger Maken people are learning to accommodate themselves more to the modern world by working at the Park.
