The old part of Anuradhapura covers a large area and looks like a park. Jungle covered the ruins of the old capital for centuries but most of the overgrowth has been removed. Archaeological study and some restoration has taken place but the area is full of mysterious ruins. This picture shows the ruins of an ancient building with guardstones which was probably a very important place long ago.
