We left Tauranga on the 3rd of January and took a ferry to Picton on the South Island the same day. We stopped at a couple of wineries on our way to Christchurch and Lyttleton. After spending an evening with John Rand in Christchurch and visiting the Antarctic Center we drove south from Christchurch. Between Oamaru and Dunedin we stopped near the ocean to see the strange Moeraki Boulders.
