The Otjitotongwe (the Himba name for cheetah) Cheetah Farm is near Kamanjab. It takes a few cheetahs, often ones with problems, which have been trapped by local farmers. Farmers usually sell trapped animals in prime condition to game farms for "sportsmen" to shoot. Laws prohibit transfer of this farm's cheetahs back into the wild or to zoos. The farm owner takes care of these animals and encourages visitors to learn more about them. The best time to visit is feeding time, 4:00 in the afternoon. |
