Here are some of the 56 students in the first grade class at Sinbo. Only an experienced teacher can really appreciate the extreme difficulties faced by one lonely teacher attempting to educate so many young children in one class. After returning to our boat we made copies of photos of all the students (3 photos) and mailed them to M.T. Hkawn Nau at her family's home in Myitkyina. We also sent her a postcard with her photo on it to say that we were mailing an envelope of photos. We will probably never know if she received them.
