Hoeing a big field under a hot sun is really hard work and that is the Burmese countryside method. There are no tractors. Some plowing might be done by oxen or buffalo, but we did not see that. Almost everything is done by hand. It looks beautiful with flowering trees and lacy bamboos bordering the fields, but we do not volunteer to do this work ourselves.
