Nina's camera lost its strap and she wanted to replace it. No ready-made leather or plastic strap seemed right, so we tried to solve the problem in Nyuang U's marketplace. Despite our language difficulties there were soon several people helping and watching. The man on the right sold us strong cord, and was surprised when Nina pulled out a pencil set with a ruler to show him that he had less than a meter rather than the two meters he wanted payment for. It was sold by the meter. He understood and Nina gave him the pencil set with ruler, eraser, and pencil sharpener. Everyone laughed, Nina paid for only a meter of cording, and there were good feelings all around with stories to be told from several points of view.
