Inle Lake is very shallow and has a network of canals and other sheltered waterways around its edges. This permits canoes to be used which would be swamped by waves in unprotected waters. The amount of water which could be held inside this canoe is probably not enough to sink it. This woman is paddling bitter gourds past a floating island. |
