This fisherman is setting out across the large lagoon on his small outrigger. His sail is apparently a black plastic tarp. While we were there a large ship from China was in the Butaritari lagoon. Local fishermen brought them live grouper and were paid $2.50 per kilogram. The fish were kept alive inside the ship for sale in China. While this brought income to the locals, we worried that the lagoon might get "fished out" and they would all go hungry.
