In Tenganan the traditional Balinese crafts are still of great importance. This woman is weaving "double ikat" cloth in which both the warp and woof threads are tie-dyed before weaving commences. It is incredibly difficult and very time-consuming to achieve the desired pattern. Notice that tension on the threads is maintained by pressing her back against the back-bar of the loom.
