The couple on "Noja" stayed in bed late and didn't start raising their anchor until 11:00. The boat had a powerful engine and bow thruster. All went well until the anchor was up. Then Johanna stopped using her bow thruster and let her boat drift back to catch its anchor on our bow! We inserted fenders between the boats to minimize damage but there were several thumps while she tried to maneuver. Several scratches and gouges were made in our topsides paint which had just been applied in Trinidad. Nina told Lyndon, Johanna's partner, to release chain to free the anchor from our bow. That finally let the boats separate. |
