We happened to visit Canberra on a day when we could see "Monet and Japan" at Australia's National Gallery. Jerry considered this a wonderful, serendipitous treat. We also saw Jackson Pollack's "Blue Poles," the National Gallery's most famous painting which almost brought down the government when it was purchased. We happened to visit the capital on Canberra Federation Day so we watched the festivities beside Lake Burley Griffin. We saw many singers and famous Australian performers such as "Bananas in Pajamas." |
