The traditional house in Lesotho is circular, stone-walled with a conical roof and few (or no) windows. The single door is on the north side, towards the sun. A cooking fire is usually inside the single room, making the interior smoky but adding warmth. Some new houses use other materials but traditions are important in Lesotho.
