The Giant Kingfisher (Megaceryle maxima) is found throughout sub-Saharan Africa except in the arid southwest. It is about 18 inches long and feeds on crabs, fish and frogs. We saw this one in Kruger National Park and saw others in the marina at Richards Bay.
