European Roller (Coracias garrulus), a threatened species, in Kruger National Park. This is the only roller which breeds in Europe, migrating to winter in South Africa. It is persecuted during migrations in some Mediterranean countries and many are shot for food in Oman every spring. Pesticides reduce its food availability, and it is sensitive to changing farming and forestry practices.
