Yellow-billed Kite (Milvus aegyptius) in Kruger National Park. The Yellow-billed Kite is one of the first migrants in Kruger, arriving in August and departing after the summer rains end in March. It can catch insects in its talons and eat them in mid-flight. It relies on termites as a major food source but is an opportunistic feeder. Its diet includes fish, rats, snakes, frogs, roadkill, carrion and the afterbirth from impalas. Sometimes the Yellow-billed Kite steals food from other birds.
