For 1000 baht for 5 adults we went into the Bang Pae Park to see the Gibbons Rehabilitation Center and the waterfall. The guard at the gate wouldn't give us a receipt so he may have pocketed the money for himself. Thais paid nothing to visit the park and swim beneath the waterfall. We met a woman from Wellington, New Zealand who was working as a volunteer at the Gibbon Center. Gibbons are an endangered species and it is illegal to keep one as a pet. The Gibbons here were rescued from illegal owners. The goal was to release as many as possible back into the wild to improve the chance of survival of these beautiful animals. |
