Phra Tamnak Phu Phing (or Bhubing) is a winter palace for the royal family, high on Doi Suthep outside of Chiang Mai where the climate is cooler than Bangkok. The Queen uses this palace for part of most years while the King travels to other places on business. The top floor of this building is for the royals while the lower floor is for their retainers. The grounds are covered with flowers, and the rose garden is very large with many varieties.
