Nina saw where the Battle of Bloody Ridge took place. Some barbed wire and metal posts were still intact - set up to deter the Japanese from getting too close to the Americans too quickly in the night. The Japanese left the Solomons in February 1943. Nina's Dad trained at Guadalcanal after the Japanese left, before he went to the Russell Islands.
