Raffles Lighthouse stands where the shipping channels bend around the southern corner of Singapore. This is an old lighthouse, still marking the junction of two of the world's busiest waterways. Part of the traffic past this place carries oil from the Middle East to China and Japan, while some of the traffic in the other direction carries Japanese cars and Chinese products to Europe.
