Sri Mariamman Temple is the oldest Hindu temple in Singapore, constructed in 1827, only eight years after Raffles arrived. Sri Mariamman is the "Mother Goddess." This entrance tower was constructed in the 1930s. Fire-walking ceremonies are still conducted here every October or November.
