The famous writer Robert Louis Stevenson sailed around the Pacific looking for the place which was best for his tuberculosis. He finally settled on a hill above Apia, and spent his last five years in this house which he had built in 1894. He was a good friend to the Samoans, who called him "Tusitalia," the teller of tales.
