We took the 12:30 bus from downtown Noumea to the Tjibaoli Cultural Center with Pete and Judi of "Twisted Sisters." We paid $5 each to see the displays in this striking piece of architecture. There were 8 Gauguin woodcuts there on exhibition - loaned by the National Museum for African and Pacific Art. We also saw Kanak masks, wood carvings and information about Jean-Marie Tjibaou who was assassinated on 4 May 1989. We went into 3 traditional tribal huts. We went back to Noumea town on the 4:00 bus. |
