This is a photo of Mount Ruapehu from quite a distance. It is near Lake Taupo and the town of Rotorua. At 9176 feet it is the highest mountain on the North Island and has permanent glaciers. It last erupted on the 23rd of September 1995 and we were there on the 23rd of December 1998.
