Jerry is aboard the boat we took from Sinbo to Bhamo. This is a longtail similar to the one we rode from Myitkyina. Boat drivers probably become expert at navigating the shoals and currents of one particular section of the river, so changing boats and drivers is a sensible safety procedure.
