Here are a few of the whitewashed stupas of Sandamani Paya erected in 1913 by Ukhan Ti the Hermit. Each stupa covers one or more of the 1774 inscribed marble tablets. The tablets of Kuthodaw Paya are inscribed with the Tripitaka, the Buddhist scriptures, while Sandamani's have commentaries on that scripture. We visited Sandamani rather than Kuthodaw because the government charged no fee here and the two seemed very similar to us.
