This is a sample of the stucco carving seen on many Bagan temples. This happens to be from the exterior of Iza Gwana, a temple north of Minnanthu Village. In this detail a crocodile-looking creature is devouring a smaller animal. These legendary creatures probably had great symbolic significance when the temples were built. We do not know what these represent but they add interest to temple architectures. |
