Outrigger canoes as well as monohulls brought cargoes to Crater Bay. Standing on poles sticking out on the side opposite the outrigger helped balance the boat so it sailed faster. This boat had a really ragged sail but it still did its job. We saw many sails which the owners probably wanted to replace.
