The Crater Bay Marina was the only one in the Nosy Be area. It had no slips but many moorings and was the base for several charter boats. Cruising boats used its high dock as a dinghy landing. The marina facilities included good water and a bar which served drinks and simple meals. Rudy, the manager, was friendly and helpful. Fuel was obtained in jugs via a taxi ride to a filling station. Cooking gas was obtained from Hellville in tanks which had "European" (not the same as US) fittings.
