Joffreville is the small town nearest the entrance to Parc National d'Ambre. Like most towns we saw in Madagascar it had a flagpole next to a sculpture in the shape of Madagascar. Here there is also the head of a Zebu on top of a pole. Zebus are still very important for a variety of traditional reasons, including honoring the dead and paying for wives.
