This man is punching holes through sticks made from branches of the Travelers Palm. The pegs in the ground enable him to punch holes at the same distance apart in every stick. Traveler Palm branches are composed of many hollow tubes, so these sticks are stiff but light. They are widely used for house walls. We gave the men working on this job a set of wood carving tools which can be seen on the right side of this photo.
