Our friend Badaria made two kinds of nutmeg fruit candy for us. In the center of the photo are fresh nutmegs with the mace still on them. The mace of Banda nutmegs is red until it dries. We purchased the earrings and necklace in Grenada (in the Caribbean) where nutmegs have white mace. Nina wore these often, and the Banda women were really fascinated. A Banda entrepreneur thought it would be good to market similar jewelry to Banda's tourists, but we haven't seen any yet.
