The old Christian Church built by the Dutch was vandalized when the Christians left during the "troubles" of 1999 to 2002 when thousands died in sectarian violence in the Ambon region. The old pews were burned and the interior was trashed. It is still a lovely old building but rennovation is unlikely with the present state of things.
