The large harbor at Banda Besar is very deep and we don't carry enough chain to anchor safely in the middle. The Harbormaster had us drop anchor in 70' of water outside an old dilapidated dock and then tie our stern to the dock. This is where fishermen from Man and Badaria's village brought their catch when they returned from night fishing. Several boats were moored near us in the harbor. In the afternoons, children swam from the dock to Arctracer and jumped off our boat. Some of them also helped us learn the Bahasa Indonesian language. |
