There were a few tracks like these on the sandy beaches, but not many. This was made by a female turtle who laid her eggs in a hole in the sand above the high tide mark. Turtles used to be killed here to feed the people who lived on these islands. Now killing them is prohibited within the BIOT area but sometimes they are killed by fishermen outside protected areas. Sea turtles are in danger all around the world.
