Five Islands Harbour had two old windmill bases on its shores. In 1705 most of the island was planted with sugar cane and there were 170 of these mills. Slaves enabled a few owners to live very comfortably in this British colony. The island is still famous for pineapples, but they were not in season when we visited. |
