The Blyde River Canyon is west of Kruger National Park at the northern end of the Drakensberg escarpment. This is the second-largest canyon in Africa (after the Fish River Canyon in Namibia) and one of the largest on earth. This natural wonder is approximately 16 miles long, 2,500 feet deep on average and carved mainly from red sandstone. We spent a day seeing the canyon area, driving 260 km (160 miles) from Kruger National Park's Skukuza Camp and back to Kruger's Letaba Camp.
