Annual Summary of 2022

The year 2022 included no long trips or other big events for us. Jerry helped people with Income Tax returns during the winter months. One afternoon we had fun telling stories to some of his High School classmates who wanted to hear sailing adventures. In the Spring, Jerry and our friendly plumber created a bathroom upstairs for guests. This was at the same time the garden needed to be planted so Nina did much of that hard work.

With warmer weather and the garden planted we went camping at Vermont State Parks (Half Moon Pond, Emerald Lake and Gifford Woods), went bass fishing with our canoe and went walking in parks and around town. For two weeks there were electric bicycles in our garage for people to try. We drove to Maine twice to visit family and to northern Vermont a few times to visit friends and play bridge. We had solar panels installed on the garage roof for additional electrical generation. The garden produced plenty of food, especially tomatoes which kept ripening well into the autumn and kale which kept growing until covered by snow. There was an excess of turnips since we planted two full rows and they are not favorites. We canned tomatoes, froze kale, dried garlic and stored butternut squash in the basement for winter soups.

We had a brief Covid-19 illness but are fairly healthy except for aches and pains typical of people our age. Bistro Midva in nearby Windsor has superb cuisine and we have taken friends there on several occasions. Cold weather finds us doing jigsaw puzzles and watching videos. The holiday season brings family gatherings and snow all around our cozy home. We have much to be thankful for.
