This was our first long voyage in any boat and a real adventure in the Rhodes 19. Long Island extends more than 100 miles from New York Harbor to Montauk Point. During this 14 day trip we slept every night on the cockpit benches under a tarp spread over the boom. We kept no log but marked our course on the "Mariner's Atlas of Long Island and the South Shore" by A.P. Balder. The story is told in a series of those charts. The red line on this Overview chart approximates our route. To see the full story, click on the "Start" button and move along the route by clicking "Next Chart" on successive pages. Or, jump to any detail chart along the route by clicking on or near that part of the red line.
