In 2007 we had all our wire standing rigging replaced plus our chainplates, turnbuckles and mast tangs. The new stainless steel shrouds and inner forestay are all 10mm while the backstays are 8mm, a bit stronger than specified by the boat designer. All of our wire end-fittings are now Sta-Loc instead of swaged. The great advantage of Sta-Loc fittings is that they can be removed and installed using normal tools, whereas swaged fittings are clamped onto the wire with enormous pressure by special machines. This enables us to replace part of our rigging in a port without professional riggers.
