Rotis were flat breads filled with various hearty foods - cheap and very filling. This shows the menu of the Roti Hut inside Power Boats. One US dollar was worth more than six Trinidadian dollars. Meats were usually chopped up bones and all, but this menu offers boneless chicken. A "Buss-Up-Shot" was a roti which was torn, like a "busted-up-shirt." There also were vendors outside the gates selling rotis and other local food. We often had rotis for lunch and then needed little for supper except cheese and crackers. |
