This small bird is also known as the Common Emerald or Tobago Hummingbird and is the predominant hummingbird of Trinidad and Tobago. The subspecies found in Trinidad is slightly smaller and has more bronzing on the upper parts than this subspecies of Tobago. There are several other subspecies in Venezuela. In addition to nectar it will eat small insects. (Tobago)
