St. Helena is an island in the middle of the South Atlantic with an anchorage at 15 deg 55 minutes South and 5 deg 43 min West. It is a convenient stop for small boats sailing across the South Atlantic from South Africa to Brazil or the Caribbean. This is one of the most isolated islands in the world, about 8 miles by 5 miles in area and very hilly. It is a British territory with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants and few natural resources. Napoleon was exiled here in 1815 and died here in 1821. It seems like a vestige of earlier times since there are no ATMs, no cellphones and no airport but this will change soon.
