These are a few of the handicrafts we obtained in the Solomons. The Triton shell with a hole is a trumpet. The inlaid shell-shaped dish and face pendant are typical woodcarvings of local artists. Nina augmented her collection of necklaces with these of shells, seeds, and flying fox teeth. The shark club and fishing float represent the utilitarian side of native traditions. |
