Our driver was very familiar with all the desert plants and creatures. He was able to detect where small lizards had burrowed into the sand. Here he was digging down to extract a Palmetto Gecko. He sometimes worried that he might dig up a snake, but that did not happen while we were there. The Gecko was later returned to the same place and even given a start on a new burrow.
